University of Palermo (Università degli Studi di Palermo) is an important cultural, scientific and teaching centre in western Sicily. Its 5 faculties and 20 departments train specialists in the most important modern scientific and technical areas. At the Bachelor’s level, the university offers 122 curricula, at the Master’s level – 44, at the level of doctor of philosophy – 23. The university cooperates with many companies and institutions; the faculty of medicine works on the basis of the university hospital. The university is located on four campuses in Palermo, Agrigento, Caltanissetta and Trapani. The University of Palermo is closely linked to the labor market and employment – students have internships in public and private institutions and agencies.
