University of Tartu (UoT) – The University of Tartu is Estonia’s largest and oldest university, founded in 1632. It is Estonia’s national university and the centre of the country’s academic spirit. It is also a strong research university, promoting education and research worldwide. More than 17,000 people work and study at the university. Around 1,800 students are international students and more than 1,100 are doctoral students. About half of UoT employees are academic staff, 74% of whom have a PhD. There are 209 professors at the university.
