Ankara University (Ankara Üniversitesi) is a public university in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. It was the first higher education institution founded in the Republic of Turkey. The university has about 40 vocational, 114 student and 110 training programmes – a total of 264 training programmes.
In 1925 the School of Law was established to study jurisprudence, in 1933 the Institute of Agricultural Technology, the School of Languages, History and Geography in 1935, and later the School of Political Science, which had existed since 1859. In 1940 The School of Medical Sciences was established in the 1930s.
