With the aim of deepening mutual understanding, mutual enrichment of cultures and development of cooperation between Ukraine and Japan, since 2003 Ukraine-Japan Centre began its activity on the basis of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”. The Centre implements a programme of acquaintance with Japanese history, culture, scientific, technical and innovative potential, conducts Japanese language and traditional arts courses, various cultural and educational activities.

In 2011, in order to strengthen cultural cooperation and mutual understanding between Ukraine and Japan, the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” and the Japan Foundation established the “Japanese Language Center – Japan Foundation” at the Ukraine-Japan Center which implements the in-depth programme of Japanese culture and language courses.
