І. GENERAL INFORMATION

Technische Universität Dresden, or TUD — one of the biggest higher educational institution in Dresden. It occupies the first position by the number of students throughout technical universities of Germany.

This higher educational institution exists in Dresden already more than 200 years under different names, and it obtained its modern name in 1961. It is one of the oldest technical universities in Germany.

ІІ. MAIN WORK SCHEME

Students study 4 years of Bachelor Degree in Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, then they finish 2 years of Master Degree in TU Dresden, defending their dissertation both in Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and TU Dresden, receiving two diplomas. The study in double PhD Degree is also perspective.

To be enrolled in TU Dresden student should pass 5 exams: German language and 4 exams on specialty.

The Master Double Degree Program between Igor Sikorsky KPI and Anhalt University of Applied Sciences (Hochschule Anhalt / AUAS, Federal Republic of Germany) aims to strengthen international cooperation in higher education and internalize educational processes. The programme integrates the educational and scientific resources of both countries in accordance with Ukrainian and German academic standards. Upon successful completion of the curriculum and final assessment, graduates are awarded a Master’s degree by both partner universities with the issuance of respective diplomas.

The programme includes theoretical lectures, practical classes, and research activities, with the study time distributed between the countries: Learning and research work in Ukraine based at the relevant institutes of Igor Sikorsky KPI. Learning, completion of practical projects, and work on the Master’s thesis in Germany directly at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences.

At the partner university, the educational process is provided by the following leading German departments:

  • Department of Computer Sciences and Languages (Köthen).
  • Faculty of Electrical, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (Köthen).

Areas of Joint Training Cooperation covers the following accredited and certified Master’s programmes:

  • “Data Science” — jointly with the Institute of Physics and Technology of KPI (base programme “Mathematical Methods of Modeling, Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision”).
  • “Communication and Embedded Systems” — jointly with the Institute of Telecommunication Systems of KPI (base programme “Telecommunications and Radio Engineering”).

Areas of Cooperation in Education and Research Learning: Students master complex disciplines in their specialty, including mandatory and elective professional modules. Both universities officially recognize learning outcomes and exam achievements of students based on the full equivalence of content and results. The educational process is carried out in English (for the “Data Science” programme, Ukrainian or German may also be involved in certain semesters depending on the location). Participants must confirm their language competence with certificates of English proficiency at a level not lower than B2.

Duration of study: The Master’s double degree programme is designed for 4 semesters (2 years). Students must complete an integrated study period of at least one semester directly at Anhalt University in Germany.

Degree award: The decision to award a Master’s degree is made by each of the Parties separately based on the successful accumulation of the required ECTS credits (at least 60 credits at each of the universities or taking into account mutually recognized modules) and the public defense of the qualification thesis. The thesis defense takes place before a joint committee of academic and teaching staff from both universities, with the use of videoconferencing allowed to organize the joint work of the evaluation board.

Tuition fees are paid exclusively at Igor Sikorsky KPI in accordance with the standard terms of your budget or contract.

All expenses for air tickets, accommodation, health insurance, and the processing of travel documents are covered fully by the students themselves.

The programme does not provide guaranteed monthly scholarships or stipends, and conditions for additional funding can only be regulated by separate grant agreements.

Academic semester schedule

  • 1st semester (winter): study at Igor Sikorsky KPI (from September 1 to January 31).
  • 2nd semester (summer): study at Igor Sikorsky KPI (from February 1 to June 29 or September 30).
  • 3rd semester (winter): integrated study directly at Anhalt University in Germany (from October 1).

Main requirements for candidates

  • Academic status: participation is available exclusively to students who already hold a Bachelor’s degree and are officially enrolled in the relevant Master’s programmes at the Institute of Physics and Technology or the Institute of Telecommunication Systems of Igor Sikorsky KPI.
  • Academic performance: the overall grade point average (GPA) for the Bachelor’s degree must be at least 75 points on a 100-point scale. Applicants must successfully pass the competitive selection process and receive an official recommendation from the graduating department of KPI.
  • English language proficiency: an officially confirmed level of at least B2. International certificates such as TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, or CAE are accepted.

Important: If a candidate provides an internal certificate from Igor Sikorsky KPI, the universities will mandatory conduct an additional joint interview in English.
